I've been playing music since I could hold drum sticks in my hands. By age 10, I was playing my first drum set. At 12, I was spending all my time in the band hall at Lorena Middle School. By 15, I picked up the guitar and began writing songs.

After years of performing and writing music in central Texas indie bands, I decided it was time to officially get to work on taking my musical education to the next level. I did so by pursuing and completing a degree in music composition from Austin Community College, followed by a bachelor of Arts in percussion performance from Texas A&M. 

I've been privately teaching drum set, percussion, guitar, & ukulele in Austin for over 6 years, and I still love every minute of it. I started my teaching career bouncing between a few Austin studios, but shortly realized that if I really wanted to help students progress on their instruments, I needed to set up a more supportive, immersive environment than the studios I was teaching at could provide. So, I quickly branched out to form my own studio, CB Music Lessons, where I have the freedom and flexibility to work closer with my students and teach to their unique goals. In my six years, I have:

• Coached young musicians into school band, drum line, and top UIL scores
• Helped guitarists & ukulele players to read, perform, and even write their own music
• Encouraged and built confidence in both adult & young beginner students to join bands and perform live
• Helped to hone the skills of pre-professional drummers in the studio and on the stage.

I could honestly talk about music all day every day, and I get an immense satisfaction out of helping others, so teaching music is a dream job to me. I feel so lucky to say coaching others to be great musicians is actually my career!

Outside of teaching, I am currently playing in several projects, including Austin's only Josie and the Pussycats cover band, Hazy Shades (a Bangles cover band), Oh Helen! (an instrumental rock trio), Break Time (a surfy alt rock trio), and the Missfits (an all ladies cover band of The Misfits). You can see when I'm playing out next by tapping here!
